Case study > Allegro > Development of a Parcel Sharing Feature in the Allegro Delivery App

Edge One Solutions supported Allegro Delivery in designing and implementing a feature that enables users to securely share parcels with other people directly in the Allegro app. The solution allows the recipient to track the parcel, collect it using a code or remotely, while the sender maintains control over privacy, including the option to hide the parcel contents.
During user research, as many as 72% of customers reported the need for an easy and secure way to share shipments with other people. Up until now, the only option was sending the pickup code via messaging apps (SMS, Messenger, WhatsApp), which didn’t provide full control or transparency of the process. The key challenge, therefore, was to design an intuitive and secure feature that would enable package sharing while protecting sensitive information, such as the shipment’s contents.

The Edge One Solutions team designed and implemented a feature enabling users to share Allegro Delivery parcels directly in the Allegro app. This allowed users to give another person access to a parcel in a more structured and controlled way than simply sending a pickup code through an external messenger.
The recipient of a shared parcel can track the package and collect it either using a code or remotely. The feature improves convenience in situations where the original recipient cannot collect the parcel personally or wants to allow a trusted person to do it.
An important element of the solution was the option to hide parcel contents. This is especially relevant when the parcel contains a gift or when the user wants to keep purchase information private. As a result, the feature not only makes parcel pickup easier but also gives users more control over the data they share.
The solution was integrated with existing parcel tracking mechanisms, statuses, and delivery predictions. Users also receive a complete set of entry points, including pickup code and QR code.

In e-commerce, delivery is one of the most important elements of customer experience. Even a well-designed shopping process can lose value if parcel pickup is inconvenient, inflexible, or requires additional coordination outside the app.
Features such as parcel sharing show that e-commerce app development increasingly includes not only the purchase itself, but also the entire post-transaction process: parcel tracking, communication, delivery prediction, pickup, and data security.
For companies in retail, e-commerce, and logistics, this means the need to design solutions that combine UX, security, system integrations, and operational stability. Such features can improve user convenience, reduce friction in the delivery process, and strengthen loyalty to the platform.
