Checkout and Payment API - Edge1S

Checkout and Payment API Feature Development for Bolt Financial

Bolt case study

Edge One Solutions supported Bolt Financial in developing features for a fintech platform handling online payments and e-commerce checkout processes. The project included designing and implementing new API endpoints, developing cart discount mechanisms, automating transaction capture for Digital Goods & Subscriptions customers, and extending the compatibility of Bolt Checkout Everywhere.

Tools and technologies used

  • Challenge

Bolt Financial was developing a payment platform for online merchants. The key challenge was to implement features whose absence could limit the company’s ability to acquire new customers interested in integrating Bolt solutions with their e-commerce environments.

The Edge One Solutions team worked based on specific needs reported by users. One example was the ability to issue invoices directly in the application. New features had to be designed to remain consistent with the existing architecture, scalable, and safe for the stability of current services.

An additional challenge was maintaining a high pace of development. In fintech and e-commerce environments, fast feature delivery has a direct impact on product competitiveness, customer integration opportunities, and further platform growth.

  • Scope of work by Edge One Solutions

Edge One Solutions supported Bolt Financial in the development of product features, APIs, and mechanisms improving payment and integration processes.

    The scope of work included:

    • designing and implementing new API endpoints,
    • developing mechanisms supporting cart discounts,
    • supporting invoicing functionality within the application,
    • developing an automatic transaction capture mechanism,
    • adapting the solution to the needs of Digital Goods & Subscriptions customers,
    • preparing a dedicated job for Bolt Checkout Everywhere,
    • ensuring compatibility of new features with the existing architecture,
    • developing backend and frontend solutions,
    • working with PostgreSQL, React, AWS, GoLang, C#, TypeScript, and MongoDB,
    • supporting platform scalability and stability.

  • Solution

As part of our collaboration with Bolt Finance, the Edge1S team designed and implemented a number of new API endpoints, including a system for calculating discounts in product carts.

An automatic transaction capture mechanism (auto-capture) was also implemented for customers in the Digital Goods & Subscriptions segment, significantly streamlining the payment process and reducing the risk of operational errors.

In addition, a dedicated job was developed that extends Bolt Checkout Everywhere functionality for customers using the platform before its implementation, ensuring full compatibility and access to the new system capabilities.

  • Project significance for the Fintech and e-Commerce sector

Payment systems for e-commerce must combine speed, security, stability, and ease of integration. For online merchants, checkout is one of the most important stages of the purchasing journey, so every feature related to payments, discounts, invoicing, or transaction handling can affect the quality of the user experience.

In fintech projects, well-designed APIs, process automation, compatibility with existing customer environments, and architecture resilience to a growing number of users and transactions are especially important.

Projects like this show that payment platform development requires a combination of backend, frontend, cloud, integration, and product expertise. Edge One Solutions supports such initiatives by providing technology teams capable of developing features in environments that require high quality, speed, and scalability.
