Tools and technologies used

  • TypeScript
  • Typeform
  • NestJS
  • PostgreSQL
  • Challenges

The project required the implementation of the Open Badges 3.0 standard as well as the adaptation and migration of data from an existing system.

The key challenge was to create a dedicated badge validator, as there was no ready-made solution aligned with the new standard and project requirements.

It was also important to integrate multiple services while maintaining system consistency and optimizing the process of collecting statistics related to issued badges.

  • Solution

As part of the project, the Open Badges 3.0 standard was implemented and a solution was prepared to support the issuing of digital badges confirming acquired skills.

A dedicated badge validator was created and adapted to the requirements of the new standard and the needs of integration with the client’s existing system.

The solution also covered data migration, integration of multiple services, and improvement of the statistics aggregation process, making it easier to monitor issued badges and certificates.

  • Project significance for education and digital certification

Digital badges and certificates help educational organizations and labor market institutions credibly confirm acquired skills.

The VCC project shows that implementing a new certification standard requires not only application development, but also data migration, badge validation, service integration, and structured statistics handling.

For educational organizations, similar solutions can support the digital transformation of certification, greater transparency in competency confirmation, and easier management of the badge-issuing process.
