Case study > Energy, Utilities > Edge One Solutions for Hitachi Energy

About the client
Hitachi is a global technology organization operating across multiple sectors, from energy and industry to IT solutions and infrastructure systems. The company focuses on creating innovative technologies that support the sustainable development and operational efficiency of businesses worldwide.
The project was part of a broader modernization initiative. The existing solution did not meet performance requirements – its outdated architecture limited data processing speed and further system development.
The team's task was to prepare a Proof of Concept (PoC) that would:
· enable processing of approximately 600 packets per second (instead of the previous ~50/s),
· ensure packet forwarding to the receiving server via a new proxy functionality,
· introduce support for the AMQP communication protocol,
· maintain compatibility with the existing library.
An additional challenge was to prepare a complete test environment, including running multiple virtual machines and the required services.

The team delivered a Proof of Concept in the form of an application encapsulated in a Docker image, significantly simplifying the deployment and testing process.
As part of the project:
· a test environment was prepared and configured, along with a virtual machine-based infrastructure,
· support for the AMQP protocol was implemented,
· application performance was optimized by introducing concurrent processing,
· full integration with existing libraries and proxy functionalities was ensured.
Thanks to these improvements, the required performance was achieved and a solid foundation was created for further system development.
