Empik is one of the largest and most recognizable retail chains in Poland, specializing in the sale of books, music, films, games, stationery and products related to culture and education. The company offers a wide range of products both in its stationary stores and in the online store. Thanks to the dynamic development of e-commerce and innovative digital solutions, Empik successfully combines traditional values with modern technologies, adapting to the needs of modern customers.
The online retail market is dynamic and highly competitive, which is why it is crucial not only to quickly implement changes, but also to anticipate and respond to emerging challenges. The Empik.com platform needed to modernize front-end technologies to speed up the implementation of new functions and improve user experience, without sacrificing quality and efficiency.
The Edge One Solutions team conducted a detailed audit of the source code and data model of the Empik.com platform. As a result of the analysis, we proposed a comprehensive migration to the latest front-end technologies, such as:
- React: to build responsive and intuitive user interfaces.
- Jest: to implement a unit testing culture, which improved code stability and facilitated further development.
- Unstated: as a lightweight solution for managing the state of the application.
- Babel and Webpack: to optimize compilation processes and increase performance.
- ES6: enabling better use of modern JavaScript language features.
