Project overview

Client: ZendeskSector: SaaS / customer experience / dataModel:IT outsourcingArea: Data Lake / data engineering / data audit

Edge One Solutions supported Zendesk by providing IT specialists responsible for migrating historical data to a new Data Lake.

The project included issue diagnostics, custom data channels, and automated auditing to confirm that previously identified problems did not occur in the new environment.

Tools and technologies used

  • Challenge

Zendesk needed to migrate historical data from an old Data Lake to a newly built, optimized data platform.

The goal of the migration was to improve environment performance and shorten data delivery time so that other teams could continue application integration and testing.

The biggest challenge was time pressure: without a complete data transfer, it was not possible to test the application or establish a stable connection with the new Data Lake.

  • Scope of work by Edge One Solutions

Edge One Solutions supported Zendesk by providing IT specialists responsible for data engineering work related to data migration.

The scope of support included preparing tools that made it possible to precisely identify the type and scale of issues occurring in the data and migration process.

The team also supported table grouping, preparation of new custom data channels, and implementation of an automated audit system for the new Data Lake.

  • Result

As part of the project, a set of diagnostic tools was prepared to precisely identify issues appearing during data migration.

The tables were then grouped and processed through new custom data channels. Each channel addressed a specific type of issue, helping structure the migration process.

The final element of the solution was an automated audit system verifying that previously identified issues no longer appeared in the new Data Lake. The migration was completed on time, allowing other teams to continue integration according to plan.

  • Project significance for Data Lake and data engineering

Data migration between Data Lake platforms requires not only transferring datasets, but also quality control, issue identification, and process repeatability.

The Zendesk project shows that an effective approach to data migration should combine diagnostics, dedicated pipelines, automation, and auditing that confirms the correctness of the new environment.

For data-driven organizations, similar solutions can shorten integration time, reduce migration risk, and increase trust in data used by applications and analytics teams.
